What's Happening in Spencer & Boyd County?

We recently received this question from a new Spencer resident: where do people in Spencer find out what's happening in the area?!

Sometimes it can be difficult to make sure everyone is aware of current events and information! We know different people like to get their information from different sources - some people read the newspaper, some listen to the radio, etc. We've compiled a list here of sources for information and we hope it helps!

Newspaper: Spencer Advocate, issues published each week and distributed on Thursday. To subscribe, contact John Wells at the Spencer Advocate, 402-589-1010

Radio: KBRX 102.9 FM located in O'Neill covers Boyd County news. Listen to their station or see their website for announcements.

Facebook: several Facebook pages are in place to share news about things going on in and around Spencer. See the Spencer Business Directory page for business Facebook links, and the Spencer Organization Directory page for organization or general community Facebook links.

Hard copy fliers: Event organizers frequently place hard copy fliers with details about their events in the post office lobby, bank lobbies, grocery store window, and gas station gathering room. Other good places to check include the senior center bulletin board and village office.

This website! Spencer Community Economic Development (SCED) members will work to keep this website updated with current information and news regarding our business and community happenings.

School website: Visit the Boyd County Public Schools website for information about school events and activities.
There is no power for change greater than a community discovering what it cares about. Margaret J. Wheatley
